This stunning big Canadian Lynx can be seen across Canada and Alaska.

They have triangular ears marked with black tufts and thick body fur. They live in extremely icy and cold habitats where other animals face hard to navigate.

They can successfully navigate on snow and hunt their prey, due to their extra-furry large paws which act as their snowshoes.

Their forelimbs are shorter than their hind limbs, which makes their back to slope down towards the front.

Canadian Lynx has a weight range of 5-17kg and only a few people know about their ability to climb and swim.

Though they are not large as lions, still they are very ferocious predators. But their sound when screaming is similar to a human.

90% of their diet is snowshoe hares. Both snowshoes hares and these big cats are active at night. As their name contains the word ‘Canada’ there is no surprise that they enjoy the cold.

They choose taiga or boreal forest as habitats because they are quite chill and have a freezing temperature for over half of the year.

Canadian Lynx too enjoys its solitude as their cousin Bobcats. The nickname ‘The grey ghost of the North’ is given due to this.

They were on the list of endangered species for a while as the poachers were hunting them for their fur. Fortunately, it is good to hear that they are no longer on the list as their population has grown over time.
