In the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, a group of people saw Cheetah family gathered on the bank of the flooded river. They had only goal which is to cross the river even when the current was too strong.

They did it. First the biggest cheetah jumped in to the water and soon other two followed them. This made the travellers so excited and they almost lost their breath. When other were watching with expectations for them to cross safely, this great opportunity was taken by the two photographers Arnfinn Johansen and Buddhilini De Soyza. They took out their cameras and managed to capture this rare incident perfectly.

According to Arnfinn Johnsen, this group of five had been hunting on both sides of the Talek River. So there is no wonder that they wanted to cross the river. Before they used to cross the river by walking on the rocks but in this year due to rain for a long period the river was flooded. They couldn’t find a place to cross the river although they walked up and down the river. This was really a dangerous decision for them because the current was strong and the river is a home for the Nile Crocodiles who can easily have a cheetah for a meal.

Johnsen also said that there were possible casualties for them to be drowned or to get killed by a crocodile, which happened to another cheetah before when crossing the very same river. After a good survey this group of five too went for it.

The big leader cheetah took the lead and two more followed him soon. After waiting for few seconds the other two smaller cheetahs too followed them. They were swimming very fast as they could which seemed like they didn’t like it. Luckily they crossed the river alive and the leader even hissed at the river while shaking its fur and tail.
