This is an article about an emotional story of a little beluga baby. A family on holiday along the River St. Lawrence in Canada found a washed-up baby beluga whale on the riverbank.
She was a newly born infant and was only a few hours old because the family saw the attached umbilical cord of the baby. The mother of this baby was not found in the nearby area, so the baby was been hydrated by the boys of the family.
Nicholas Milliard, a 15 years old boy and his younger siblings found this baby beluga. Nicholas said that they started to moist the baby by digging a hole to accumulate water for the baby. Also, he said that it was very hard to maintain the water level as the water level was getting low, so every five minutes they had to bring a bucket of water.
The rescue team arrived after the boys keeping the baby whale by watering every 5 minutes

Later in the afternoon researchers from The Group for Research and Education on Marine Mammals (GREMM) came for help to rescue this baby. To find a lactating whale they exposed the baby to another pod of beluga whales.
The researchers had to leave her although it was dark. In case to trace her down later, they got a skin sample too. She had been through a lot and also will struggle to survive for the next years but her native environment is where she deserves to live and she needs a chance for that.
The rescuers carried the beluga to a mattress to make it comfortable

Unfortunately, a baby cannot survive alone without the mother. For two years beluga whales nurse and look after their babies. Her reunion with her own mother or to be fed by a lactating whale is the only hope for her.
Earlier in the St. Lawrence River, there were tens of thousands of beluga whales. At present, there are only about 900 of them left due to the pollution of the reservoir.
In an effort to help the baby whale locate a nursing whale, the young whale was returned to the ocean and introduced to a number of Beluga whale pods.

This baby will have a small chance to reunite with a new group because beluga whales are very social.
Sometimes the company they keep is preferred but sometimes they exist on their own.
The Vise President of Animal care, Tim Binder said that these whales are considered to be a part of the endangered population species, so each and every individual is very important to the group for its survival. He also stated that people should be given knowledge and materials to act swiftly.
No matter what the case is, this baby beluga whale was given a chance to live by the kind boys who saved her.
Did the baby survive?
