Salvador Dolly is a cute dog from Dallas, and she has one feature that makes her stand out.

Salvador Dolly is a dog from a shelter in Dallas who has a cool mustache that goes from one side of her lip to the other. Salvador puppy lives in a foster home in New York. She is one of 11 puppies from the same litter.

“Right now, it’s puppy season in Dallas, and there are always several moms with litters at the shelter,” Hearts & Bones Rescue’s Allison Seelig said. “Dallas Animal Services, which takes in the third most animals in the country, took in mama and her 11 babies when they were homeless and cared for them for two weeks. However, puppies are more likely to get sick in shelters, so we had to take them out,” she said. Thanks to the help of Dallas Animal Services and Hearts & Bones Rescue, it took less than a week to move the whole family of 12 from the shelter to foster care.

“The whole family is now safe and comfortable in a nice home, where they are getting medical care and watching until the puppies are old enough to be weaned,” Allison said, adding that the puppies still need to be fed because they are only 5 weeks old. Even though the 12 puppies are living in the same foster home, a non-profit organization is thinking of sending them to NYC in late August to live in different foster homes until they find their permanent homes.

Seelig said that the puppies are very active and naughty, just like their mother, and are doing great. “All of the puppies are cute and look different, and while we have a lot of applications for Dolly right now, her siblings are still looking for homes in NYC! Also, we’re looking for homes in New York City that are ready to take in the puppies when they show up,” she said. Hearts & Bones Rescue has a website where people can get in touch with them if they want to help with foster care or find forever homes for the puppies.

“It’s expensive to take care of a family of 12, so donations would help us a lot right now,” Seelig said, encouraging people to help pay for Dolly’s and her family’s health care and other needs by donating to their site here.

Hearts & Bones Rescue is a foster-based dog rescue with teams in both Dallas, TX and New York City. They work with shelters that have too many animals, like the ones in Dallas, where they sometimes take in more than 100 animals in one day. The main thing they want to do is save as many lives as they can and help the dogs in any way they can. “Once our dogs leave the shelter, we send them to foster homes in the Dallas area for two weeks to make sure they’re healthy. Then we send them to New York City, where surprisingly many people want to adopt dogs!” Allison explained how to do it.
