Poor little Tim. (Picture: California Wildlife Center)

Tim is going to be the name we give to a young mockingbird that was just rescued by the California Wildlife Center. The center took the bird in after observing that he had malformed feet and decided to provide him with veterinary care.

Because Tim was born with knuckled feet, it is physically difficult for him to walk or climb trees in a comfortable manner because his feet have grown in such a way that they fold in on themselves.

If Tim were to be released into the wild, the mockingbird would most likely perish.

It’s also possible that Tim’s feet caused him to develop severe sores.

To our great relief, the center devised a remedy for the problem.

A group of veterinarians got to work on creating the tiny bird its very own pair of shoes out of cardboard, and they got to work right away.

Tim’s feet were able to be realigned thanks to the shoes, and they were able to return to their natural shape more closely resembling that of a bird’s foot. After only a week of treatment, the bird’s feet were completely healed, and he was able to move around on his own.
